Custom Fields

Custom fields added to a Veeva CRM object may be added to its corresponding Veeva Align object. This is only beneficial when the custom fields impact Align rules processing or reporting. Adding and editing custom fields is handled in Vault Admin. For authorized users, these features are accessed by clicking the option in any Align page. For complete details about using Vault Admin, see Veeva Vault Help > Vault Admin Help.

Open the Vault Admin tab to configure custom fields, picklists, and report types:

To configure custom fields:

  1. Select the Configuration tab.
  2. Select Objects.
  3. Select the desired object.
  4. Select the Fields tab and create a custom field.

    Currency type custom fields are not supported.

To configure report types:

  1. Select the Configuration tab.
  2. Select Report Types from the Report Setup menu.
  3. Select Create.
  4. Select the primary reporting object and populate the fields.

To configure picklists:

  1. Select the Business Admin tab
  2. Select Picklist under Application Setup.
  3. Select an object to edit the picklist.
  4. Click Edit.
  5. Add custom values or modify existing values.

Picklists with a suffix of __v cannot be modified.

With the exception of picklists, do not create, edit, or delete a record in any Align object accessed via the Business Admin tab. Doing so bypasses the data integrity built into the Align application which could result in an audit finding, if audited.
