About Align Releases
Veeva Align releases with a continuous delivery cycle. New functionality is released every 2 months through 6 Major Releases, with Minor Releases introducing fixes for existing functionality.

Additionally, Align regularly releases upgrades to the Vault platform. These upgrades are not reflected in the Align version number, but are visible in Align in the Vault Information section of the Settings page in the Admin section.

The following are definitions of the various releases:
- Major Release – This includes new functionality, product enhancements, and fixes to existing functionality. Releases are released to customer sandboxes prior to the production release.
- Minor Release – This is a planned release typically containing a small number of fixes or issues that are affecting customers. Sandboxes are typically updated three business days prior to Production instances.
- Hotfix Release – This is an unplanned release typically containing a small number of fixes or issues that are affecting customers. Both Sandbox and Production instances are updated at the same time for a Hotfix.
- System Maintenance – This is scheduled downtime for system infrastructure changes like server restarts. Veeva Align requires maintenance windows to release Veeva Vault upgrades.

The frequency or day may change due to holidays.
For urgent or critical releases, we may release with less than 24 hours notice.
Documentation
Release Notes are delivered 7 days before the production release associated with a Major Release. Release Notes include all user-visible changes, new feature information, and map shape changes. All new objects and fields are documented as well.
Patch Release Notes are delivered 3 days before the production release associated with a patch.
Release Communication
Release communications are sent from the Veeva Trust site and posted to the Align Announcements topic on the Veeva Support Page.
To sign up for release communication via Veeva Trust:
- Navigate to trust.veeva.com.
- Select the Subscribe to the Veeva Trust Site tab.
To sign up for release communication via Veeva Support:
- Navigate to support.veeva.com.
- Select Community.
- Select Align Announcements.
- Select Follow.
The Community and Trust pages are updated to indicate when a release is finished.
POD (Point of Delivery)
PODs are the servers where your Align application is hosted. PODs are located in data centers in Germany, Japan, and on the east and west coast of the US.

Sandbox instances of Align exist on one of three dedicated Align PODs: VA_US_SBX, VA_EU_SBX, and VA_AP_SBX.
Locating an Align Instance’s POD
Admins can find their Align POD information via the following process:
- Navigate to the Admin tab.
- Navigate to the Settings tab.
- Navigate to the Vault Information section of the General Settings page.
