Persisting CRM Roles for Deactivated and Unassigned Roster Members
Admins can configure Align to populate the role of unassigned or deactivated roster members, based on the role from their most recent assignment in Veeva CRM. This ensures data and records owned by unassigned or deactivated roster members remains visible to data stewards in hierarchy reports.
Configuring Persisting CRM Roles for Unassigned Roster Members
To configure this feature:
- Ensure Creating and Updating Roles in CRM is enabled.

Add the persist_role_unassigned_users__aln field to the appropriate veeva_crm_org__aln object page layouts.
Place this field in the CRM Integration Options section of the page layout, directly after the Manage CRM Features field.

Edit to the appropriate veeva_crm_org__aln record.
- Select Yes for the persist_role_unassigned_users__aln field.
- Select Save.
Automatically Populating Roles for Unassigned Roster Members
Unassigned roster members are automatically assigned their most recent CRM role in the following circumstances:
- An active roster member has a historic assignment, but not a current assignment
- Both the roster member and their assignment are end-dated
When pushing to CRM, all roles associated with currently unassigned roster members are updated in the Role object in Veeva CRM. If a User no longer has a UserRole record in Veeva CRM and the last territory they were assigned to before becoming inactive also does not have an associated UserRole record, the user's CRM role backfills into the UserRole object.
